Utilities and Maintenance

The Utilities and Maintenance department is responsible for the efficient operation, management and upkeep of all campus electricity, heating and cooling, as well as the repair and upkeep of all electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and roofing maintenance at the University.

Led by Paul Kempf, Associate VP of Utilities and Maintenance, the team of engineers, power plant operators, zone managers, technicians, mechanics and administrators service over 12.9 million gross square feet of campus facilities and lead the University's efforts to reduce its carbon emissions footprint by 65 percent by 2030.

To utilize combined heat and power, renewable and recoverable energy systems along with energy conservation technologies and strategies to provide sustainable, reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally-compliant utility services.

Repair & Maintenance Work

IMPORTANT NOTE: Renewal of core building elements and systems such as exterior envelope, fire safety, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and elevators is conducted through the Infrastructure Funding Plan process. If your project relates to the replacement of one of these elements or systems, you may wish to contact the Planning, Design and Construction office before proceeding with this form.

Emergency Requests

If you have an urgent after hours facility request such as an elevator malfunctioning, a plumbing leak or power outages, the Work Control Center phone line is forwarded to NDPD Dispatch at:
