New Notre Dame Hockey Arena

The new Notre Dame Hockey Arena broke ground with site utility work in March 2010 directly south of the Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center. Construction of the 203,000 square feet facility began in May. will be the new home for the varsity hockey team as well as host to numerous community and campus-based recreational programs and special events. With its two ice sheets, it not only provides a state-of-the-art facility for the hockey program, but also brings a much needed community asset providing additional locations for youth hockey programs, figure skating programs and on-campus intramural programs. The seating capacity is approximately 5,000, including seating and standing room. Construction is scheduled to be complete in October 2011 in time for the home 2011/2012 season opener.
