Ricci Family Fields and Geothermal Well Field Project

Author: Department of Facilities Design & Operations

On Monday, July 25, 2016, work began on the construction of the Ricci Family Fields and geothermal well field project. The project is at the north end of campus immediately west of the Stinson Rugby field near Stepan Center. The project will involve a phased excavation of the site, drilling of approximately 679 geothermal wells, the construction of three new synthetic turf fields, and construction of a new support building for use by the Notre Dame Marching Band.

The work will be carried out in three phases as identified within the attached images. (Ricci_Family Fields-phases2016_17.pdf)  No University roadways are scheduled to be permanently closed as part of this project; however, occasional construction activities may require flagger-guided control and/or temporary re-routing of traffic.

Pedestrians will continue to have access to the surrounding sidewalks but caution should be exercised at all times throughout the project to ensure public safety.

The project will continue in phases and conclude by August 1, 2017.
