New residence halls construction zone to limit walkway access

Author: Department of Facilities Design & Operations

Phase 1 construction work on two new undergraduate residence halls will limit pedestrian walkway usage on the east side of campus in the coming months.

Beginning Thursday, March 19, students, faculty and staff will no longer be able to enter or exit campus using the walkway that extends from Bulla Road, between the B2 Lot near the Wellness Center and the McCourtney Hall research building work site. (View attached map.)

Pedestrians and cyclists should use the sidewalks along Holy Cross Drive or the walkways off of Leahy Drive between the B2 Library Lot and the B2 Lot near Pasquerilla Center.

The new undergraduate residence halls – one for men and one for women – will be located east of Grace Hall, Pasquerilla Hall East and Knott Hall.

Phase 1 work on the halls is expected to last through June 2015. During this time, there will also be no access to the sidewalk between the construction zone and the B2 Lot near the Wellness Center and no access to the walkway between the construction zone and the research building work site.  In addition, reserved parking spots within the residence halls construction zone have been relocated to the B16 Lot and B2 Library Lot.

The new undergraduate halls are scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2016.
