Hesburgh Library Renovation Alerts: Fourth Floor Closed and Elevator Abatement Begins

Fourth Floor Closed for Renovation
As of 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, the fourth floor of the Hesburgh Library will be closed for renovation.

Elevator Lobby Abatement
Asbestos abatement of the first- and second-floor elevator lobbies will take place over the 2015-16 holiday break. See scheduled closures below or read full Ren-Alert.

If you are unable to use the stairs, please ask for assistance at the Security Monitor's desk in the Fishbowl or at the Circulation and Research Help Desk in the North Entrance Gallery.

Second Floor Elevator Lobby Closed Monday through Sunday, Dec. 21-27

  • Users cannot get on or off elevators on the second floor.
  • Access tower floors via elevators on first floor and lower level.
  • Continue to access the second floor and lower level via the two north stairwells. 
  • Continue to access tower floors via the stairwell on the second floor behind the elevator lobby.
  • Second floor elevator lobby re-opens Monday, Dec. 28.

First Floor Elevator Lobby Closed Monday through Sunday, Dec. 28-Jan. 3

  • Users cannot get on or off elevators on the first floor.
  • Access tower floors via elevators on second floor and lower level.
  • Continue to access the second floor and lower level via the two north stairwells.
  • Continue to access tower floors via the stairwell on the second floor behind the elevator lobby.
  • First floor elevator lobby re-opens Monday, Jan. 4.
