Douglasrdproject 2 1200x675

The intersection of Douglas and Ironwood roads will be closed beginning Monday, July 18, as Phase 2 of the Douglas Road improvement project gets underway. During this phase, Ironwood Road will be closed between Ponader Drive, north of Douglas Road, and Legacy Village Court/McErlain Street, south of Douglas. Phase 2 is anticipated to conclude in November.

Also on July 18, Douglas Road between Twyckenham Drive and Ironwood Road will reopen as Phase 1 ends. That stretch of road, closed since mid-April, will reopen with four lanes and feature street lighting. Construction crews will also extend the pedestrian pathway from the Warren Golf Course east to Ironwood Road.

Phases 3 and 4 are scheduled for next year. When the project is completed, Douglas Road will be four lanes from the toll road entrance/exit to the west through the Indiana 23 intersection and beyond. Ample turning lanes will be added at the Douglas and Ironwood and the Douglas and Indiana 23 intersections which experience significant congestion during peak traffic times.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is overseeing construction.
