Continuation of Utility Work on the East Side of Campus

Author: Department of Facilities Design & Operations

Faculty, staff and students are asked to remain alert in the coming weeks to pedestrian walkway and parking changes east of Grace Hall and Pasquerilla Hall East.

The adjustments will impact pedestrians, cyclists and drivers from Grace and P.E. eastward to the D2 South Lot and south towards the B2 Library Lot. Underground utility lines are being rerouted in phases to prepare for future construction of two new undergraduate residence halls.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 1, the existing work zone on the Grace Hall grounds will expand across the building’s rear parking lot (east side). As a result, through Friday, Dec. 5:

  • The driveway and parking to the rear (east) of Grace Hall, Pasquerilla Hall East and Knott Hall will be restricted to emergency vehicles only
  • Faculty, staff and students parking in the D2 South Lot and B2 Library Lot should use the pedestrian walkway between Grace Hall and Pasquerilla Hall East or the sidewalk on Holy Cross Drive near the East Gate

Beginning Tuesday, Dec. 9, the work zone will move farther east, closer to the D2 South Lot. The following changes are planned through Jan. 15:

  • East and west sidewalks will be reopened and the diagonal walk from the intersection of Holy Cross Drive and Old Juniper will be open to pedestrian traffic
  • The north-south pedestrian walkways near the D2 South Lot and B2 Library Lot will always have one pedestrian walk open in north / south direction

Directional signs will be placed near the work zone to help direct pedestrians to the nearest accessible walkway.

As always, the Department of Facilities Design & Operations would like to thank you for your flexibility and consideration as the University grows and improves.
