Classroom Comforts: Temperature Control and Lighting
All classrooms have occupancy sensors that automatically turn the lights on and off by detecting the presence or absence of people in the room. These "smart" sensors are responsible for switching the HVAC system between occupied and standby mode. Room temperatures are regulated according to the set-points as defined by sustainability guidelines. http://green.nd.edu/ If a problem with room temperature arises, please contact the Building Manager at 631-8773. Weekend events taking place outside normal operational hours must be coordinated in advance. Please contact Sheila Adkinson, Building Manager, since the heating and cooling systems enter an energy conservation mode during those times.
The 450 seat Auditorium, #101, and the three additional, 250-seat lecture halls, #102, #141, and #155 have nine preset lighting controls. If a customized preset is required, please coordinate in advance with the Building Manager. Room #101 is equipped with halogen lights that are useful during Test administration. Television spotlighting for the above listed areas is available upon request.
Light switches for #102, #141, and #155 are highlighted by a red indicator lights near the first floor entrance doors. Depress the top indicator glow light for "on" and the button directly below for "off".
All 50- and 100-seat rooms have both fluorescent and incandescent lights. Incandescent light intensity can be adjusted by using the slider switch located in front of the room beside the fluorescent and chalkboard light switches.
